What is Malaysia e-Invoice (MyInvois)?
Malaysia e-Invoice is a government initiative by LHDN (Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia) to digitize and standardize invoicing across all businesses. Under this system, businesses must submit invoices electronically through the MyInvois portal for validation before they are considered legally valid.
Unlike traditional invoices, e-Invoices are validated in real-time by LHDN and assigned a unique identifier. This creates a digital trail that helps prevent tax fraud and simplifies tax filing for businesses.
Who Must Comply with e-Invoice?
All businesses in Malaysia will eventually need to comply with e-Invoice requirements. The rollout is phased based on annual revenue:
- ≥ RM100 million annual turnover → 1 August 2024
- RM25 million – < RM100 million → 1 January 2025
- RM5 million – < RM25 million → 1 July 2025
- RM500,000 – < RM5 million → 1 January 2026
- Below RM500,000 → 1 July 2026 (unless exempted under MSME criteria)
Important: This includes sole proprietors, freelancers, partnerships, and all Sdn Bhd companies – regardless of size.
